Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry (or DXA)
The DXA scan is a non-invasive imaging test that measures your bone density, muscle mass, and body fat percentage. We use this scan to assess bone loss and fracture risk, and to provide additional insights into your body composition.
By pairing genetic testing with your DXA results, we can quantitatively determine your risk for certain disorders.
For example, aging is often associated with decreased bone density and muscle mass. Evaluation with DXA highlights these conditions which can be precursors to osteoporosis.
